Metuchen, NJ — Week 6 in United Women’s Soccer has come to a close, with plenty of talented athletes showcasing their skills. Lara Schenk of Chicago Mustangs claimed this week’s Defensive Player of the Week award, while Kenne Kessler of Lone Star Republic was named Offensive Player of the Week.
GK – Mia Wildeman (San Antonio Athenians) – Wildeman came through with some phenomenal saves down the stretch, leading Athenians to a pair of wins.
D – Rachel Kutella (Chicago Mustangs) Kutella anchored the defense, and had an assist to help the Mustangs secure three victories.
*D – Lara Schenk (Chicago Mustangs) – Schenk, a German international, shut down any offensive attack to help the Mustangs earn two shutouts and three wins in Week 6.
M – Marykate Maguire (Scorpions SC) – Maguire scored 2 goals in a 4-2 victory over NE Mutiny.
*M – Maddy Schupbach (Corktown AFC) – Schupbach dominated in the attacking third and scored twice in a 2-1 win over Detroit City FC.
M – Clara Robbins (Pensacola FC) – Robbins proved a threat in the attack with a goal and an assist in her second UWS match of the season.
F – Ryelle Shuey (Lancaster Inferno) – Shuey scored three goals in a doubleheader weekend for a 2-2 draw with first-place team FC Buffalo, scoring the equalizer in the 93rd minute, and 1-0 win over Rochester Lancers.
F – Alyssa Thompson (Santa Clarita Blue Heat) – Thompson scored twice in a 2-1 win over Kongo SC.
F – Mimi Asom (Lone Star Republic) – Asom scored four goals in a 5-0 victory over BatCo FC.
F – Lindsey Prokop (Gretna Elite) – Prokop scored four goals in a 7-0 victory over Springfield Demize.
F – Kenne Kessler (Lone Star Republic) – Kessler dominated the game with three assists and a goal in the victory over BatCo FC and scored twice in a 4-2 win over FC Austin.
D – Lauren Bruno (New Jersey Copa) – Bruno played all 90 minutes and shut down the attack in a 3-1 win over Brooklyn City FC.
M – Nina Nicosia (Chicago Mustangs) – Nicosia scored a total of 4 goals in Week 6 play.
F – Emily Key (KC Courage) – Key, an England international, scored the game winner in an exciting match against Gretna Elite Academy.
F – Amanda Smith (San Antonio Athenians) – Smith scored the game winning goals in both of Athenians’ victories in Week 6.
