Michigan’s largest soccer club joins United Women’s Soccer

Metuchen, NJ – United Women’s Soccer (UWS) is thrilled to announce the addition of Nationals FC to the 2022 Midwest Conference alignment. As Michigan’s largest youth soccer club, Nationals FC will provide a women’s team for their alumni and other female soccer athletes to compete at the national pro-am level. In addition, they will partner with Rebels FC to field their second team that will compete in UWS League Two (UWS2) which is geared toward U20/23 players.

“We are proud to have Nationals FC join United Women’s Soccer,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “They have a solid player pool to select top players to compete in the league. It is also great to see a partnership with our returning UWS2 member team, Rebels FC, to advance the game in their region.”

Nationals FC has over 4,000 players on over 250 premier/select teams and their recreational program for youth ages 3-10. Their operations span the Southeast Michigan and Mid-Michigan area, with their primary “hubs” operating in 10 locations, attracting players from at least 10 counties (Bay, Clinton, Genesee, Lapeer, Macomb, Midland, Oakland, Saginaw, St Clair, Wayne). With two teams competing in two divisions under the league’s umbrella, the club will provide a strong pathway to professional soccer for their female players.

“The UWS is a perfect fit as the best way to expand our grassroots to professional pathway,” said David Robertson, Nationals UWS Director of Player Management / Nationals Girls Academy Director. “Nationals has established itself as the premier youth soccer destination in Michigan and the United States for aspiring, talented young women, and the UWS provides us with a perfect extension to the next level for our college alumni and youth players. Partnering with an established member, Rebels FC, additionally allows us to create a multi-tiered approach to facilitate true development alongside each player’s college coach. The UWS history of professionalism and player centric programming made it an exciting and easy decision for us.”
