Michigan Jaguars FC ready to kick off in 2022

Metuchen, NJ – Expansion has come to the Midwest Conference of United Women’s Soccer (UWS) and UWS League Two as Michigan Jaguars FC will join the fray for the upcoming 2022 campaign. Michigan Jaguars is one of the premier girls youth clubs in the country, consistently ranking in the SoccerWire Top 100. As a natural next step for the club, they will be providing female players the opportunity to compete at the national pro-am level to help prepare them for their college careers and beyond. Notable alumni includes 2017 UWS National Champion, Madison Pogarch, who was part of Grand Rapids FC prior to entering the NWSL.

“We are excited to welcome the Michigan Jaguars to United Women’s Soccer,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “The Jaguars have a long history in the game with a strong alumni base that will drive their women’s team to success.”

Founded in 1989, Michigan Jaguars FC is based in Novi, Michigan. Their mission is to create the best possible soccer experience for every player, regardless of skill level. Their primary focus is on training athletes to become quality players while gaining lifelong lessons and experiences. The club accomplishes this goal by offering a comprehensive training curriculum for players of every age and at every level. By cultivating an inclusive & challenging training environment, a professional and dedicated staff works to develop confident, capable, and passionate young athletes. Michigan Jaguars FC is committed to the growth of soccer in their community by maintaining positive relationships with their players, families, and supporters.

Doug Steinard has been appointed head coach of the women’s teams at Michigan Jaguars FC. Coach Steinard formerly led North Oakland SC who competed in UWS League Two last season. In addition to serving as a Jaguars youth coach, he is the women’s assistant coach at Lawrence Tech University. Steinard led the Jaguars 2003/04 Girls NLC squad to the MSYSA U19 State Cup Championship in 2021 and an invitation to the USYS National League PRO competition.

“We are excited to join such a competitive league with a talented group of players,” said Coach Doug Steinard. “The team will look to build a pathway for our youth players and also give our alumnae a home to play in the summer. We look forward to competing in the 2022 season.”

The home venue for Michigan Jaguars FC will be announced in the coming weeks. Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, December 21st from 2:30-4:30pm at Total Sports Wixom (30990 Wixom Rd, Wixom, MI 48393) .
