Metuchen, NJ — Further expansion has come to United Women’s Soccer (UWS) with the addition of a new Dallas-based team to round out the 2022 Southwest Conference. Luxoria FC joins the fray alongside CTX Hornets, FC Austin Elite, San Antonio Athenians, San Antonio Runners, and Williamson County FC to compete at the national pro-am level this upcoming season. Stay tuned for the 2022 game schedule to be released tonight.
“We are excited to welcome Luxoria FC to United Women’s Soccer,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “The team features many talented players who competed in the UWS Southwest Conference last season. I am certain the team will be a great addition to UWS.”
Luxoria FC was founded in 2021 by Miami based entrepreneurs Mauricio Quintanilla and Marco Ramirez. The name Luxoria came from their original business, Luxoria Travel Services, a luxury concierge business accommodating A-list clients all around the world.
Growing up in passionate soccer environments at home, both Mauricio and Marco knew a club would be in their future plans. It was then Mr. Quintanilla was introduced to Coach Maurice Uyokpeyi who vouched and spoke highly of a group of women he had previously coached. A couple practice sessions later Luxoria FC went undefeated in a local premier league. The club was then born and it consists of a diverse group of current college athletes, former college athletes and professional business women.
“Luxoria was founded on the principle of creating opportunities for local companies around the world to be part of a network or team to rise above these difficult times,” said co-founder Marco Ramirez. “When the idea of using the name Luxoria for a soccer team of young women was presented, the same principle came to mind. We want these young women to have an opportunity to rise above and reach their goals, on and off the field. Thank you for giving us this opportunity.”
“After several meetings with Coach Uyokpeyi, Dallas just felt like the right place for a women’s soccer team,” said co-founder Mauricio Quintanilla. “A city where not only women’s soccer, but women’s sports in general are embraced everywhere you go. To be able to represent the DFW metroplex in the United Women’s Soccer League 1 is going to be something to look forward to this summer.”
Luxoria FC will continue to be led by Head Coach Maurice Uyokpeyi, who brings plenty of experience to the program having coached and developed many athletes from the youth level to the collegiate level.
“Luxoria FC is very excited to join the UWS League 1 this year,” said Coach Uyokpeyi. “Being a new club, it will be a great experience for some of our new prospects and those looking to further their soccer careers.”
Luxoria FC will play their home games at Curtis Middle School Stadium (1530 Rivercrest Blvd, Allen, TX 75002). For more information on Luxoria FC, visit their official website. Connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
