Michigan-based club moves to the top division of United Women’s Soccer

Metuchen, NJ — After two seasons in UWS League Two (UWS2), Livonia City FC is making the move to the first division of the national pro-am league. This upcoming season, their Women’s team will compete in the Central Conference of UWS League One. Stay tuned as more teams are announced to the 2023 alignment and the game schedule is released.

“We are thrilled to welcome Livonia City to the Central Conference of United Women’s Soccer,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “The organization has shown a commitment to grow the women’s game and we are excited to help Livonia City continue to provide a pathway for their players.”

Livonia City FC is a 501c3 non-profit organization that aims to build a strong, sustainable soccer club to provide a platform for local players to compete at a high level. Their focus is on being integrated into the community through partnerships with local businesses and charities. Based in Livonia, Michigan, the club was founded in 2015 and launched its Women’s team in 2018. Livonia City FC has appointed Ken Shingledecker as Head Coach of their Women’s team for the upcoming season. Shingledecker is the current Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Schoolcraft College, Head Coach of Livonia Stevenson High School Varsity Boys & Girls, and Michigan Wolves SC.

“Livonia City FC is very excited to join UWS1 for the 2023 season. This has been an extremely positive offseason for the club so far and being able to continue to grow our Women’s team is an important part of our club’s vision,” said Chair Ben Rode. “It’s awesome to see how much the Women’s game is growing in the Midwest and throughout the US and we look forward to the high-level competition within the Great Lakes Division for 2023.”

The home venue for Livonia City FC will be Schoolcraft College (18600 Haggerty Rd, Livonia, MI 48152). Prospective players can fill out the Player Interest form at the following LINK.
