Oldest Arkansas-based club joins UWS

Metuchen, NJ — Further expansion has come to the Central Conference of United Women’s Soccer (UWS) with the addition of a second Arkansas-based club for the 2022 season. The Arkansas Comets join UWS to offer their alumnae the opportunity to compete at the national pro-am level.

“We are excited to welcome a second Arkansas team in UWS,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “ The Comets have the experience and infrastructure to compete at this level.”

The Arkansas Comets is the oldest and most successful youth soccer club in the state. Based in Springdale, AR, the club prides itself on it’s vision to develop great people through soccer. Since the club’s inception in 1992, the Arkansas Comets have committed to seeking quality programming for their players. The UWS platform will provide the opportunity for their current college-bound players and alumnae to train and compete at a high level during the summer months.

“The Arkansas Comets Club is beyond excited to be a part of United Women’s Soccer League (UWS), beginning in the 2022 season,” said Club Director Samir Haj. “Being a part of the UWS gives every one of our players the ability to fulfill their ambitions of playing at the next level. The Arkansas Comets have always strived to provide every pathway possible to showcase our players and the chance to compete in a national level professionally run league is the perfect extension to our youth program.The dream of bringing top level soccer experience to NW Arkansas, for our female players, is now a reality! Thank you to the UWS for giving the Arkansas Comets the opportunity to be a part of the league.”
