Metuchen, NJ – Expansion news continues to build in United Women’s Soccer (UWS) as a new organization has been added to the 2022 Central Conference lineup. Sporting Nebraska FC joins the national pro-am league as the second Nebraska-based team.
“We welcome the addition of Sporting Nebraska to UWS as we continue to provide a national footprint with regional competition,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara.
“Sporting Nebraska is beyond excited to bring a top-level Women’s team to the Omaha area,” said Sven Jasinski, Interim Executive Director. “Our market is filled with so many great players, several which were part of our youth and competitive programs at Sporting Nebraska and surrounding clubs. This league will give these players an amazing opportunity to compete at a high level during the summer. We look forward to this new adventure and thank the UWS for bringing us on board.”
Sporting Nebraska FC is a non-profit, full-service youth soccer club providing players ages 4 through 19 in the State of Nebraska a full range of training, development, competitive and league play opportunities. With facilities in Lincoln and Omaha, Sporting Nebraska FC leverages its coaching talent, professional administrative staff, and affiliations, such as Sporting KC, the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), and National Premier League (NPL), to develop passionate and well-rounded players committed to excellence on and off the field.
The club is guided by their core values of integrity, leadership, discipline, humility, accountability, and communication, which allows their players and coaches to be uncompromising in their commitment to success. They have found that positioning players for success based on individual ability and aptitude has helped them to cultivate a passion for the game while developing character in players, coaches, and parents.
“We are thrilled to be provided the opportunity to compete in the UWS, beginning May 2022,” said Luke Baxter, Head Coach. “This team will provide an extension of the club’s pathway into the professional game. This team allows us to provide a place for our alumni and offer the opportunity for collegiate players to continue to develop their game during the summer. We are excited for our members and the community of Omaha to have the opportunity to be around the team and create more amazing soccer memories. The UWS offers more than just a team, but a brighter future for female players in the area. My staff and I are excited for this opportunity!”
