Metuchen, NJ – United Women’s Soccer is excited to announce the addition of Illinois Premier, set to begin play in 2022. The club will field a first team in the UWS national pro-am league and a second team in UWS League Two (UWS2) next season.
“We“We are thrilled to welcome Illinois Premier to UWS,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “Having known Dwayne Cruz for several years I am confident in his abilities as coach and administrator and with the talent surrounding the metro Chicago area the team is poised for a great season.”
Illinois Premier is an alliance of community based clubs in and around the Chicago area, with a total of nearly 1,000 youth players competing under the Illinois Premier umbrella. Illinois Premier was founded in 2017, with some of its member clubs having been a staple in the Chicago youth landscape since the late 1970’s. As an organization, Illinois Premier has a strong commitment to player development, and decades of experience preparing players for success in soccer and in life.
“We at Illinois Premier are thrilled to be a part of UWS moving forward,” said Executive Director Dwayne Cruz. “UWS provides a wonderful platform for our older players to continue to compete at an extremely high level. And we are really happy to be able to complete our player pathway on the women’s side to include a high level option for our female players to continue past the U19 teams which has been the traditional top of the youth pyramid.”
Illinois Premier will play their home matches at John Hersey High School (1900 E Thomas St, Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004). For more information on Illinois Premier, visit their official website. You can also follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
