“We are excited to welcome FC Arizona to UWS,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. ”Their organization’s commitment to excellence and high standards compliments what we look for in clubs. It’s evident that they will be an excellent addition to the league.”

Based in Chandler, Arizona, FC Arizona is a highly competitive and community driven professional soccer club. FC Arizona coaches follow a curriculum designed to allow players to compete and progress to a higher level. The club is home to over 600 recreational youth players, 535 competitive youth players, men’s teams competing in NPSL and UPSL, and a top women’s team which will now compete in the UWS national pro-am league.

FC Arizona’s women’s team is led by Head Coach Tara Koleski, who is also the Girls Director of Coaching for the club. She is the former Head Coach at Dominican University of California, former associate head coach at University Northern Iowa, and former head coach for two seasons apiece at NCAA DI UMBC and NCAA DII West Chester University. Tara has a USSF B license, NSCAA Premier, and DFB “B” Jugenschein License. Koleski was drafted in the 11th round by the San Diego Spirit of the Women’s United Soccer Association in 2001, and also played for the Philadelphia Charge and New York Power. She was part of the full United States women’s national team pool in 2002. Additional technical staff includes Assistant Coach Tamara Hatfield, Assistant Coach Jennifer Grubb, Director of Player Personnel Dana L. Hooper, and Strength and Conditioning Coach Cindy Hallas.

“It is vitally important to FC Arizona that our senior women compete in the best league possible,” said Head Coach Tara Koleski. “The governance of a league plays a huge part in strengthening or weakening the players’ experience. After our first conversation with the UWS it was clear that this league would be a higher level for our club and women’s players. At FC Arizona, we are committed to the relationships we hold with our staff and players. With this said, it is with pleasure we have decided to join the UWS (United Women’s Soccer) league where we can compete. We are grateful that the UWS values competition in the women’s game and is working with US Soccer to be recognized as a National 3rd level professional league. Our women’s senior team has strong relationships within Division I, Division II and local community colleges. We are strengthening our relationships with various NWSL teams and we want to ensure our players have the best environment to compete. This is exciting for FC Arizona, our players and the community to bring the best soccer to Arizona thus far in the women’s game. We want to thank UWS for allowing FC Arizona to be part of this ultimate league.”

FC Arizona will play their home games at Legacy Bell Bank Park, a 320-acre sports facility in Mesa. Their Championship Field Soccer Stadium seats 5,500 spectators. For more information on FC Arizona, visit their official website. Connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
