Metuchen, NJ — The United Women’s Soccer (UWS) national pro-am league is pleased to welcome Erie Commodores FC. The club will compete in the Penn-NY Division of the East Conference, alongside AC Syracuse Pulse, FC Buffalo, Pittsburgh Hotspurs, and Rochester Lancers. Stay tuned for the 2022 game schedule to be released this evening.

“We are excited to welcome the Erie Commodores to United Women’s Soccer,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “By adding a UWS side, the Commodores have now provided a pathway to professional soccer for its female players.”

Erie Commodores FC has a strong history of running senior elite teams having managed a Men’s team in the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League) since 2009. During that time, the Commodores have had much success winning six Conference Championships, three Division Titles, three National Semi-final appearances and played in The National Final in its inaugural year. They look forward to the opportunity to bring the same success to their new women’s program.

“The club’s aspirations are always to compete at the highest level,” said club owner John Melody. “In discussions with the League, an opportunity arose to go into League One and we accepted. We want to provide the opportunity for the girls to play at the highest level and grow the game of soccer in Erie, PA and surrounding areas!”

“It’s exciting for the club and city as a whole,” said Head Coach Becks Young. “We are really looking forward to competing in this top league and helping to drive women’s soccer forward in this town for many years to come. We are looking forward to the challenge that this league will provide for us.”

Erie Commodores FC will play their home games at the Erie Sports Center (8159 Oliver Rd, Erie, PA, 16509). For more information on the Erie Commodores, visit their official website. You can also follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
