Top-level matchups are set for this weekend across United Women’s Soccer

Metuchen, NJ — United Women’s Soccer begins its fifth week of play with heavy-hitting matchups on the docket, and two clubs set to make their season debuts. 

Central Conference 

Great Lakes Division

Sunday, June 12 

Muskegon Risers vs Corktown Hawks 

Start Time: 5:00 EST 

Venue: Oakridge High School (Muskegon, Michigan) 

The only action in the Great Lakes Division this weekend takes place between Muskegon Risers and Corktown Hawks. Muskegon Risers find themselves looking for their first result of the season following four difficult games, while Corktown Hawks are one of two teams remaining in the Central Conference with a perfect record in 2022. 

Heartland Division 

Saturday, June 11 

FC Wichita vs Arkansas Comets 

Start Time: 3:00 CST 

Venue: Stryker Sports Complex (Wichita, Kansas) 

FC Wichita comes into this weekend looking to make up some ground on Gretna Elite and KC Courage and create a three-team race for the Heartland Division, but Arkansas Comets will be confident after securing their first point in UWS last weekend, setting this game up to be an intense and competitive contest. 

Sporting Nebraska vs KC Courage 

Start Time: 6:00 CST 

Venue: Papillion Landings (Papillion, Nebraska) 

Sporting Nebraska has adjusted quite well to the UWS level, with two wins from its first three games. Now, it heads home to play in front of its supporters for the first time this year in what should be a thrilling game against an excellent KC Courage side.

Sunday, June 12 

Arkansas Wolves vs Side FC 92

Start Time: 2:00 CST 

Venue: Lewis Stadium (Benton, Arkansas) 

Arkansas Wolves will take the pitch in front of their home supporters looking for their first result at the UWS level, while Side FC 92 hits the road in search of points following a stretch of three defeats in five games to start the season. 

Midwest Division 

Friday, June 10 

Illinois Premier vs Indiana Union 

Start Time: 6:00 CST

Venue: John Hersey High School (Alrington Heights, Illinois)

Illinois Premier will play its first home game at the UWS level on Friday as it takes on an Indiana Union side badly in need of points. Illinois Premier lost the first encounter between these two clubs in lopsided fashion, but will hope to bounce back in front of the home support. 

Sunday, June 12 

RBFC Elite vs Chicago Mustangs 

Start Time: 6:00 CST

Venue: Riverside Brookfield High School (Riverside, Illinois) 

Chicago Mustangs, led by UWS assist leader Nina Nicosia, head to RBFC Elite looking to keep their perfect record so far this season in tact, while the hosts will have designs on securing a first win in their inaugural UWS season. 

East Conference

Mid-Atlantic Division 

Friday, June 10 

Paisley Athletic vs Lancaster Inferno 

Start Time: 7:00 EST

Venue: Kearny High School (Kearny, New Jersey) 

With Coppermine United following closely behind, the pressure is on Lancaster Inferno to secure three points here and remain at the top of the Mid-Atlantic Division. It won’t be easy against a Paisley Athletic side playing in front of its home fans. The hosts have yet to secure a result this season, but have proven difficult to beat. Lancaster Inferno narrowly escaped with a 1-0 win last time they met. 

Saturday, June 11 

Coppermine United vs NJ Copa 

Start Time: 7:30 EST 

Venue: Coppermine Norris Field (Baltimore, Maryland)

Coppermine United has begun life in United Women’s Soccer with two wins in its first two games. One of those victories came against NJ Copa, a club that will no doubt be looking for revenge as it hopes to breathe new life into its season with three important points away from home. 

Sunday, June 12 

Lancaster Inferno vs Paisley Athletic 

Start Time: 5:00 EST 

Venue: Conestoga Valley HS (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) 

In what will be a test of endurance for both clubs, Lancaster Inferno and Paisley Athletic meet for a second time this weekend. This time, Lancaster Inferno will have its home fans providing the wind at its back, while Paisley Athletic will look to prove it can compete away from home. 

Coppermine United vs Keystone FC 

Start Time: 6:00 EST 

Venue: Coppermine Norris Field (Baltimore, Maryland)

Sunday’s action presents another UWS landmark, as Keystone FC makes its debut at the top level. One of two clubs that have yet to take the pitch this season, Keystone FC begins its campaign with an opportunity to make a statement on the road against Coppermine United, which plays the second leg of a home back-to-back. 

New England Division 

Friday, June 10 

Scorpions SC vs Worcester Smiles 

Start Time: 7:00 EST 

Venue: Medway High School (Medway, Massachusetts) 

With middling results through three games so far this season, Scorpions SC can make a move up the New England Division standings and potentially come within a point of second place with three points here. Worcester Smiles will be looking for progress after beginning the season with four losses. 

Albany Rush vs CT Rush 

Start Time: 7:00 EST 

Venue: Christian Brothers Academy (Albany, New York) 

Two clubs that have shown a strong ability to fill the net collide in Albany as Albany Rush meets CT Rush. Both sides come into this game averaging more than two goals per contest, making this a match that should feature plenty of high-flying, attacking soccer. 

Saturday, June 11 

NE Mutiny vs CT Fusion 

Start Time: 4:00 EST

Venue: Lusitano Stadium (Ludlow, Massachusetts) 

One of the more exciting matchups across UWS this week is set for Saturday afternoon in Ludlow, as the top two sides in the New England Division meet for the second time this season. NE Mutiny got the best of last year’s UWS runners-up with a 2-1 victory in late May, and CT Fusion will be looking for revenge here to try to close down the five-point gap at the top of the table. 

Sunday, June 12 

Worcester Smiles vs Albany Rush 

Start Time: 6:00 EST 

Venue: Anna Maria College (Paxton, Massachusetts) 

The Sunday action begins in the New England Division with an intriguing matchup between Worcester Smiles and Albany Rush. The visitors will have their eye on moving up the table as they enter the weekend in third position, while Worcester Smiles will hope a home game in front of their fans can produce a win. 

CT Rush vs Scorpions SC 

Start Time: 7:00 EST 

Venue: Guilford High School (Guilford, Connecticut) 

Play in the New England Division closes for the weekend in Guilford, where CT Rush and Scorpions SC meet in the second game for both clubs on the weekend. Depth will be tested, and both sides need to collect points if they hope to catch the pack at the top of the division. 

Penn-NY Division

Friday, June 10 

FC Berlin vs Rochester Lancers 

Start Time: 7:00 EST 

Venue: Coyer Field at Buffalo State (Buffalo, New York) 

Fresh off a landmark result against top-of-the-table FC Buffalo, Rochester Lancers will look for a second consecutive impressive performance as they take the road to battle FC Berlin. FC Berlin owns three draws from its first four UWS contests, but will strive to collect its first win in front of the home support. 

Pittsburgh Hotspurs vs Erie Commodores 

Start Time: 7:00 EST 

Venue: Founders Field (Cheswick, Pennsylvania) 

It’s a battle for bragging rights in Western Pennsylvania, as Pittsburgh Hotspurs and Erie Commodores meet on a UWS pitch for the second time. The first meeting was a thriller, with Erie Commodores pulling out an epic 4-3 win. Every Pittsburgh Hotspurs match so far this season has featured at least four goals, meaning there should be plenty of offense on display in this one. 

Sunday, June 12 

Erie Commodores vs Rochester Lancers 

Start Time:4:30 EST 

Venue: Mercyhurst University Tulio Field (Erie, Pennsylvania) 


Erie Commodores will head right back home on Sunday, welcoming Rochester Lancers for another interesting match. These two clubs have yet to collide at the UWS level, and both will be in search of valuable points in a wide-open Penn-NY Division race. 

FC Buffalo vs Pittsburgh Hotspurs 

Start Time: 6:00 EST 

Venue: Robert Rich Sr All-High Stadium (Buffalo, New York) 

FC Buffalo, one of just two Penn-NY Division sides not in action twice this weekend, welcomes Pittsburgh Hotspurs for the first meeting between the two teams this year. FC Buffalo will be hoping to bounce back from its first defeat of the season, and Pittsburgh Hotspurs make the trip north in search of a statement win. 

South Conference 

Southeast Division 

Sunday, June 12 

FC Birmingham vs Atlanta Panthers 

Start Time: 4:00 CST

Venue: Lawson Field (Irondale, Alabama) 

After suffering a heavy defeat in the initial matchup between these two teams this season, FC Birmingham gets a chance for revenge in front of its home support. Hitting the road after a home game with Pensacola FC Saturday, Atlanta Panthers will have their stamina tested as they look to close the weekend on a high. 

Southwest Division 

Friday, June 10

CTX Hornets vs FC Austin 

Start Time: 7:30 CST

Venue: Bob Shelton Stadium (Buda, Texas) 

FC Austin takes a three-point cushion at the top of the Southwest Divisoin into a road matchup with CTX Hornets to kick off the weekend. The visitors have relied on a stout defense to stay undefeated through four games, conceding just two goals. CTX Hornets, meanwhile, have suffered two defeats to open the season and will view this as a major opportunity to change the momentum of their campaign. 

Luxoria FC vs WilCo FC 

Start Time: 8:00 CST 

Venue: Lowery Stadium (Allen, Texas) 

Luxoria FC has the opportunity to rise up the table in the Southwest Division with a victory here, taking on third place WilCo FC. WilCo FC, with two wins and two defeats in four games this season, can apply some pressure on the top two sides in the division should it collect three points in this one. 

Sunday, June 12 

SA Athenians vs CTX Hornets 

Start Time: 7:00 CST 

Venue: Soccer Central (San Antonio, Texas) 

Two days after taking on the Southwest Division leaders, CTX Hornets face another big challenge as they hit the road to play second-place SA Athenians. Fresh off a dominant 5-0 win in their last game, SA Athenians will se this as an opportunity to keep their momentum rolling as their look to chase down FC Austin.

West Conference 

Friday, June 10 

Los Angeles SC vs Calgary Foothills 

Start Time: 7:00 PST 

Venue: Duarte High Stadium (Duarte, California) 

Another intense, intriguing game is slated to kick things off in the West Conference, with Los Angeles FC facing Calgary Foothills for the second time in less than a week. Calgary Foothills claimed a narrow 2-1 victory last time out, but will have to find a way to win on the road to repeat that result this time. 

SC Blue Heat vs Impact FC 

Start Time: 7:30 PST 

Venue: College of the Canyons (Santa Clarita, California) 

Impact FC will also make the trip from Canada to Southern California to take on last season’s UWS National Champions. SC Blue Heat already owns two wins and a perfect defensive record so far this season, while Impact FC will be out to grab its first victory of the year in impressive fashion. 

Sunday, June 12 

Los Angeles SC vs Impact FC 

Start Time: 7:00 PST 

Venue: Duarte High Stadium (Duarte, California) 

Los Angeles SC will host its second Canadian foe of the weekend when it welcomes Impact FC for the first match between these two clubs at this level. Impact FC will be looking to close out its journey with three points, while Los Angeles SC can continue to prove its mettle as UWS rookies with a victory here. 

Calgary Foothills vs SC Blue Heat 

Start Time: 7:30 PST 

Venue: College of the Canyons (Santa Clarita, California) 

The final match of the week in UWS is one of the most enticing, as two of the heavy hitters in the Pacific Division go at it for the first time this year. Both have played in the UWS national tournament in their history, and the outcome of this match could go a long way toward deciding which side has the edge to do so this year.
