Metuchen, NJ — An exciting summer season has concluded in the Mid-Atlantic South Conference of UWS League Two (UWS2), which features six teams based in Maryland and Virginia. Baltimore-based team, Coppermine United’s (7-1-0) record was unmatched as they led the conference in goals (25), and the least amount of goals against (5) in eight matches.
Mid-Atlantic South Conference Defensive Player of the Year – GK – Maddie Smith (Coppermine United) – Smith led the team in starts (7) and only allowed 3 goals all season and 6 clean sheets out of 8 matches.
Mid-Atlantic South Conference Offensive Player of the Year – F – Hayley Brock Moten (Coppermine United) – Moten was a great leader on and off the field and led the team in goals with 12 goals in 8 matches.
Mid-Atlantic South Conference Coach of the Year — Val Teixeira (Coppermine United)
Head Coach Val Teixeira led the Coppermine Women’s First Team to finish on the top of the table in their inaugural season of UWS League Two. Teixeira played professionally for over 25 years in Portugal, the United States, and England. He’s currently the Director of Coaching at Coppermine Soccer Club and brings with him an extensive coaching resume from youth to collegiate to professional. In addition, you’ll find him leading the 2007 and 2004 Girls at Coppermine SC and coaching HS Varsity at Notre Dame Prep (NDP).
