METUCHEN, NJ – In the fifth edition of the 2021 UWS League Two post-season awards, the league highlights the Great Lakes Conference. The two UWS reserve teams finished at the top of the 11 team conference. Detroit City FC II had an impressive run with the highest number of goals scored (31) and the least amount of goals against (6). Corktown AFC II was a close second, and both teams earned the league’s top individual honors.

Great Lakes Conference Defensive Player of the Year – D – Brianne Rogers (Detroit City FC II). Rogers, playing defensive center mid, was a crucial piece of DCFC’s defense, which only conceded 6 goals in 10 matches.

Great Lakes Conference Offensive Player of the Year – F – Alexa Sabbagh (Corktown AFC II). Sabbagh was the leading scorer in the conference with 4 goals and 1 assist. She contributed greatly to Corktown’s (7-1-2) success as a threat in the attack.

Great Lakes Conference Coach of the Year —  George Easter (Detroit City FC II)

Coach Easter led Detroit City to earn the Great Lakes Conference Division Title, during their inaugural season. He is in his third year, and second full season with University of Michigan-Dearborn Women’s Soccer Program and also coaches youth soccer for DCFC Youth West, out of Canton, Michigan. Easter holds a USSF National “C” License, NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 3 License, Coerver Youth Diploma 1 & 2, Sports Performance Diploma, and his United Soccer Coaches Collegiate Coach Diploma.
