Newcomers to the UWS national scene CT Fusion will clash with a side with plenty of experience on this stage in SC Blue Heat on Sunday for the ultimate prize in North American pro-am soccer. SC Blue Heat, who qualified out of the West Conference, won the inaugural UWS national title back in 2016 and finished as the runner-up in 2017. They’ll have their sights set on claiming a second title. For CT Fusion, this is their first trip to the UWS National Championship Tournament, having earned their bid by winning the East Conference.

CT Fusion and SC Blue Heat have both demonstrated the kind of excellence necessary in all phases of the game to win a title. CT Fusion scored 11 more goals than any other side in the East Conference during the regular season and demonstrated shut-down defense in the postseason, with two clean sheets and just one goal conceded in three games. SC Blue Heat exploded for four goals against SA Athenians in the national semifinals, and had 16 goals to show for six regular season games in the West Conference. They’ve also conceded only four goals in seven games between the regular season and the postseason.
