United Women's Soccer UWS national pro-am league awards midwest conference

Metuchen, NJ — The UWS Central Conference split into North and South Divisions for the 2021 season, with exciting soccer taking place in both five-team groupings. Midwest United emerged from the playoffs to claim the conference title and earn a bid to the UWS National Championship Tournament.

Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year — D – Lexy Smith (Corktown AFC) 

Center back Lexy Smith proved rock solid at the back for Corktown AFC all season, as she earns the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year award. Smith led AFC Corktown in minutes played as the crucial solidifying presence in their back line. She propelled her side to a pair of clean sheets and contributed a goal on the attacking end of things as well.

Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year — M – Avery Lockwood (Midwest United) 

Avery Lockwood takes home the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year award after dominating all season from the attacking midfield position. The US under-20 international tallied four goals and five assists in nine regular-season games, then scored four more times in three postseason games to help Midwest United to the National Championship Tournament. 

UWS Midwest Conference Coach of the Year — Lewis Robinson (Midwest United) 

Lewis Robinson claims the Midwest Conference Coach of the Year honors after leading Midwest United to yet another fantastic season. It’s the second time Robinson claimed this honor, having previously done so in 2017. Robinson, also the head coach at Aquinas College, helped Midwest United to an unbeaten regular-season record and helped the club claim a conference title, leading UWS with 42 goals in the process.
