METUCHEN, NJ – The Southwest Conference of United Women’s Soccer (UWS) enters a new stage in it’s evolution this upcoming campaign, as a record number of teams will compete for the conference title. Eight organizations make up the 2021 UWS Southwest lineup with the opening game occurring on Saturday, May 8th.
The CTX Hornets travel north to JPII Stadium for their first-ever UWS match against fellow newcomers Dallas International Football Club (7:30 PM CDT). The following weekend, Dallas travels to Tulsa, OK to face Side FC 92 at Case Community Soccer Complex (3:00 PM CDT) on Saturday, May 15th. On the same day, the San Antonio Athenians will host long-time rival FC Austin Elite at Soccer Central (7:30 PM CDT). With each conference team playing a ten-game schedule, the season will be played out over a span of nine weeks.
“This will be an exciting season for the Southwest Conference,” said Southwest Conference Commissioner Danny Woodfill. “With electrifying teams from Tulsa and across Texas, we are sure to see the best soccer in the country played here. All of the teams can’t wait to kick off the UWS season.”
The UWS Southwest regular season wraps up the weekend of July 9-11 with four important matches. On Saturday, July 10, FC Austin Elite will host San Antonio at Elite Field at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex (kick-off TBD). First-year side Lone Star Republic has to manage an away-and-home doubleheader starting with a local derby against Dallas International FC at JPII Stadium on Saturday (7:30 PM CDT). LSR will then host Side FC 92 at the Greenhill School on Sunday (8:00 PM CDT).
UWS Playoffs will be held the weekend of July 16-18 and the National Championship will take place on the weekend of July 23-25. Stay tuned for more information on the 2021 postseason format & championship host.
