Ten teams in two divisions battle it out in expanded conference format

METUCHEN, NJ – The fourth season of competition in the Midwest Conference of United Women’s Soccer (UWS) will kick off with divisional play on Saturday, May 8th. In the North division alongside Corktown AFC, Muskegon Risers and Detroit City FC, two-time conference champion Midwest United (formerly Grand Rapids FC) hosts Lansing United at Aquinas College for a 7:00 PM EDT kick-off.

Play starts in the South division on Sunday, May 9th as Chicago KICS FC travels to DuPage Medical Group Field in Joliet, IL for a 7:30pm CDT match against Ladies Steel City FC. The reigning conference champion Indiana Union, Chicago Mustangs and MSC Peoria join those teams for South divisional play. With two five-team divisions, every UWS Midwest team will play two crossover games for a total of ten regular season matches.

“The ten teams in the Midwest Conference are filled with extremely talented players and we are excited for the opportunity to compete this summer,” said Conference Commissioner Jeremy Sampson. “Our focus will continue to be on the health and safety of our players, coaches and fans as we prepare to take the field in May.”

The Midwest Conference regular season wraps up in the North division on Saturday, July 10th as Midwest United hosts the Muskegon Risers (6:00 PM EDT at MUFC Complex) while Lansing United travels to Detroit City FC (7:30 PM EDT at Keyworth Stadium). In the South division, MSC Peoria has a home-and-away weekend, respectively, against the Chicago Mustangs (7:00 PM CDT at Eastside Centre) on July 10th and Chicago KICS FC (7:00 PM CDT at Rice Park) on Sunday, July 11th.

Postseason commences the following weekend when there will be a regional playoff to determine the representative for the UWS National Championship (July 23-25). Stay tuned for more information on our 2021 postseason format & championship host.
